VR/AR in product design – Faster, more understandable and more efficient development
The use of virtual and augmented reality opens up new possibilities in product design. Development processes become faster, more transparent, and more interactive – while simultaneously reducing costs and improving communication between all project stakeholders.
Life-size 3D visualizations allow products to be experienced and evaluated realistically even before physical prototypes are built. Concepts can be directly compared with predecessor or competitor products. Furthermore, working in virtual space enables rapid and intuitive concept development – with significantly less effort than in traditional CAD programs.
Even in early development phases, ergonomics, reach, and usability can be checked. At the same time, designs can be presented interactively, for example, via FBX files – even without CAD software. The models can also be easily reused for initial 3D-printed prototypes or simulations. Collaborative work in virtual space accelerates coordination processes and significantly shortens development cycles.
