Röhlig Realtime – Making complex logistics data easy to understand
Logistics is fast-paced, international and highly complex. At the same time, today’s customers expect digital services that are just as clear, reliable and intuitive as modern consumer apps. This is precisely where the Röhlig Realtime project came in.
We share with Röhlig Logistik a commitment to developing digital products that create real added value. The aim was to design a software interface that makes real-time transport data transparent, clear and easy to use – for different user groups and use cases.
The challenge: Reducing complexity without losing information
Röhlig Realtime brings together a wealth of relevant information: shipment status, routes, timings, deviations – all in real time. The challenge was to present this data in such a way that it could be grasped at a glance, whilst still offering sufficient detail for day-to-day operations.
For us, it was clear: a good solution doesn’t start with the interface, but with understanding the users.
Our approach: User-centered UX as a foundation
As a first step, we developed a UX concept that is consistently geared towards the users’ needs. What information is required and when? Which decisions need to be made quickly? And how can complex processes be visually structured?
This formed the basis for a clear interaction logic that guides users confidently through the tool – regardless of how complex the underlying logistics process is.
From concept to interface: Clear, modern, functional
The resulting screen design translates this structure into a modern, uncluttered and functional user interface. The focus was on:
clear visual hierarchy
high readability even with large amounts of data
quick reference points for daily use
Colours, typography and components were deliberately chosen to emphasise the Röhlig brand whilst supporting a practical, professional user experience.
Thinking long-term: A scalable design system
A central element of the project was the development of a design system. It forms the basis for consistency across all screens and enables Röhlig to efficiently further develop, expand, and roll out the platform internationally in the future.
Thus, a single interface became a long-term usable system.
The result: Real-time transparency
Röhlig Realtime is a piece of software that demonstrates how good UX design can make complex content easy to understand. Users benefit from greater transparency, improved navigation and a significantly simplified way of interacting with real-time logistics data.
