About the product
The new DULCOMETER diaLog C single-channel controller is a versatile device for recording all measurement parameters of ProMinent sensors. Depending on the application, it can be used both as a transmitter as well as single-channel 2-way controller be used – which saves time and reduces operating costs.
Not only because it controls two pumps with little effort and adjusts dosages safely and precisely—but also because it offers real support in everyday life. For example, through its graphical LED display, the multilingual and intuitive menu navigation as well as numerous opportunities for data transmission and networking. Especially practical is its intelligent disturbance processing. In addition, Dialog C enables automations and can be used as alarm, limit switch or to control of motor metering pumps and solenoid valves serve.
The challenge
For the new DULCOMETER dialog C display system from Prominent, we faced a special technical and user-centered challenge:
The industrial display operates with a comparatively low resolution, which is often common in harsh industrial environments—while at the same time, it should be intuitive, efficient, and visually clear for users. Added to this was the exclusive control over a membrane keyboard without touch function – a control concept that requires precision and visual support to a special degree.

For the DULCOMETER diaLog C, we have oriented the entire UX process towards user needs. In doing so, the holistic optimization of the user experience in the center.
Operating concept & interaction structure
We developed a well-thought-out information and interaction concept that clearly structures processes, enables intuitive operation paths, and significantly simplifies user guidance.
Remote usability testing worldwide
To validate the solution in a practical way, we conducted international remotely conducted usability tests with real users through – over an interactive click dummy in Figma. In this way, we were able to identify potential improvements early and test them directly in the simulation.

The interactive prototype realistically reflected the later usage. This made it possible to test operating logic and processes in a practical manner, even before the physical system was implemented.
